Kilikanoon Pearce Road Semillon 2015

Clare and Barossa Semillon is something I've never really warmed to. This release is a fatter and richer style - different to the fresh and vibrant styles coming out of the Hunter Valley at the moment. Keep in mind they are different climates too.

Five months in French oak has added a creamy complexity to this, but fresh characters of gooseberry, snow pea and green capsicum seem to be strangled in the background. Yep, more Sauvignon traits for sure but aren't as crisp and green as for a Sauv if you know what I mean. These move on and persevere to find some lemons and lemon rind coming into the fray.

The bones are there for some long term cellaring that's for sure. I'd drink this with something creamy or even a roast chook rather than the fresh seafood I'd normally have with the variety.

87/100
