Soumah Single Vineyard Chardonnay 2016

I like the wines coming out of Soumah at the moment. The duck egg label is certainly eye catching too. Things seem to be progressing nicely for this relatively new label from the Yarra Valley.

Eight months in oak (20% new) has ensured the fruit sings. Whilst oak can be seen, the fruit really impresses.

Stone fruit on a platter here. A delicious creamy drive is ably supported by zesty lemon and grapefruit acidity. The deft hand of power is alluring. A slight whiff of toffee adds interest but the roasted cashews on exit seal the deal. Finishing long with a lovely textural touch, this is smart Chardonnay.

Drink now to a decade.
