Shaw Vineyard Estate Semillon Sauvignon Blanc 2015

The more I get the chance to look at the wines from Shaw Vineyard Estate, the more I continue to become impressed by the quality across their vast range and price points.

This 2015 Semillon Sauvignon is a 95/5 blend. With only 5% Sauvignon Blanc they'd be forgiven for not mentioning it - any contributor less than 15% can slip through to the keeper so to speak. Perhaps those magical words 'Sauvignon Blanc' have some pulling power. Who knows?

Fresh scents of lemon grass, gooseberry and cut herbs. Quite green on the whiff mind you. In the mouth it's tight with a minerally drive. Some old school Semillon appeal here with an imminent 'fatness'. It feels heavy - not in the realm of those energetic Semillons seen coming out of the Hunter Valley of late. Subdued melon and green pineapple to finish. A good drop for fish and chips or something creamy.

Drink now to five years.
