It's been a while since I've had the opportunity to have a look at a wine from Juniper Estate. Not much has changed in that time by the looks either - the quality is still high.
Whole bunch pressed and barrel fermented with 45% new oak used.
A mouthful of rich Jersey caramel and generous yellow stonefruit greet you. Burnt fig sways about as do biscuity notes and some flint. Almonds take their time to warm up and be seen. A classic finish of ginger spice before a lemon citrusy acidity shuts the gate. Lovely Chardonnay.
Drink now to eight years.
