O'Leary Walker The Sleeper Shiraz 2018

Here is a dense and concentrated Shiraz from O'Leary Walker. Only the third release of this wine since 2003, The Sleeper is a keeper as patience will reward.

Sourced from the oldest vineyard in Williamstown planted in 1946, Williamstown is the gateway to the Barossa sitting on the southern end of the district and on the northern edge of Adelaide Hills region.

Firm and weighty, it speaks of its clay soils. Blackberries, black plums and dark chocolate muse with flecks of caramel. Roasted meats and pan juices unfurl with time in the glass. Dry grown, the small berries ensure the fruit is concentrated. It is a wine that gets in deep and showed its best form on day two and three of tasting. Fine baking spices and a delicate sprinkle of pepper push through to a long and seemingly never-ending finish culminating in a grippy feel and silty-like tannins.

Give this Sleeper a snooze as patience will reward with more bottle age.
