Yealands Estate PGR 2014

Marketed as, "P.G.R. The taste of summer," this Pinot Gris/Gewurztraminer/Riesling blend does have me intrigued I must admit. The listing of fruit on the back label has me a little confused though as it states Pinot Gris/Riesling/Gewurztraminer. So is this a PGR or PRG?? No percentages stated and no further information accompanied the sample nor was the RRP advised, plus a bottle image was hard to track down.  The neck tag looks like it belongs on a piece of fruit in the supermarket rather than a wine bottle. That's my whinge done. Back to the juice... A pretty handy drop once the cap is ripped off and the glass filled.

Ginger, white flowers, poached pear and Turkish delight aromas. There's a good vibe about it. Down the hatch and the fruit is fresh. That ginger is backed up with baking spices and pear sits at the core. Residual sugar adds some interest and gives the suggestion of texture. The length is long and engaging. Thai and Malaysian cuisine would smash this. I'd happily have a glass or two on its own.

Worth a look if you can find it.

Very good.
