Tobin Wines Block Two Shiraz 2014

It's always good to pop into Tobin Wines. Adrian Tobin's cellar door is certainly unique to others on the Granite Belt. The wines are made meticulously and Adrian's passion is clear, he's a good story teller too. I arrived to hear Adrian is having a break in Finland before the rigours of vintage take hold.

Two Shiraz wines are made here - Block One and Block Two. The two blocks sit side by side and run in the same direction, the only significant difference between them is that Block Two sits eight feet above Block One. Both block parcels are kept separate and are made exactly the same, yet the final result is far from similar.

Bustling with bright fruit aromas, plenty of savoury goodness is also delivered via star anise, spice and a hint of clove. The dark berry fruit has good weight and is flanked by cedary oak leading to a long and satisfying finish.

Drink up to eight years.

Very good.
