A blend of two regions here with Hunter Valley Shiraz (58%) making the main play ahead of McLaren Vale. This is a change from 2012 where the McLaren Vale component pulled the weight (62%) due to a challenging vintage in the Hunter.
Dark fruits step up here with the McLaren Vale component ensuring it gets noticed. The depth adding some kick to the already medium bodied Hunter Valley Shiraz. Earthy, soft pepper chimes in late leading to a drying finish. The fruit rolls off sooner than I had hoped. This has barbeque steak written all over it, though I prefer others in the range.
Good.
