Meerea Park Alexander Munro Shiraz 2006

This vintage was selected to be re-released after ten years due to its quality and ability to age furthermore. Sixty dozen were held back.

Take a whiff and old cedar and savoury herbs move straight into the fray. Lots of deep purple fruit brightened by youthful red fruits. A dash of Christmas cake, dark chocolate and soothing spice add interest. Soft, long, generous. Acidity has softened as you'd expect. Fine tannins walk proudly with their chest puffed out.

Still plenty of life left here. Will hold for another decade and then some.

Very good+

  1. I have 15 bottles of this 2006 AM Shiraz left, and had one last weekend. This wine is very smooth, and it doesn't get much better as far as hunter shiraz's are concerned. Plenty of fruit still apparent, and expect some chocolate finish to develop over the next few years, as is found in the 1998,2001 & 2003 I have drank in the past year.. Was rated 95 points by Halliday.

    1. Thanks for getting in touch. With 15 bottles remaining you have plenty of happy drinking ahead in the years to come. I'd be curious to revisit this wine to see its progression. Keep me posted and I'll enjoy it through your lens.
