This is the first vintage that the Coolart Road site has been used as a single site wine. Planted in 2000, it was previously used for the 10X range.
Hand picked, wild yeast fermented and 80% whole bunches. 2910 bottles produced.
A faint aroma of sarsaparilla before plums and cherry fruit gets things moving. There's a light dusting of black pepper which canters through. The fruit has depth courtesy of the whole bunches and firm acidity which steals the limelight from the fruit. This settled down on day two of tasting mind you. Give it time this will settle into its groove furthermore.
An enjoyable wine but my least preferred of the three single vineyards which include McCutcheon and Wallis - oh to be picky :)
Very good.
