It's great to be re-acquainted with an old friend. I haven't seen this wine for at least a decade. A trip to the cellar door many moons ago would be the last time this Estate Pinot touched my lips. Not much has changed it seems - it's still a rock solid example of Yarra Valley Pinot Noir.
Gamey, undergrowth and mushroom compost from the outset, there is a suggestion of cured meats wafting around too. Add cardamon, some clove, twiggy feels and those classic Pinot characters shine with dark plummy fruit sitting at the core. Some tension through the mouth which is not a bad thing coupled with a long spicy finish, I certainly enjoyed this savoury driven wine.
