Earthworks Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Earthworks is an exclusive label made by Yalumba for a chain retailer. The label has that chain store retailer 'home brand' look about it, but those like me who aren't in support of such gauging can breathe easy. Curiously, the Earthworks website doesn't appear on the label.

To the wine... Very young. It's leafy and comes across green. As I swirl and swirl the glass to coax something from it, some blackcurrant emerges as does dark chocolate and expected dark plum. None are overly generous in their presence mind you.

Delivery is dry, very dry in fact - coffee grounds like. The tannins just stick. Blackberry and cassis step up on a long finish.

There's nothing here to get me overly excited. Put a slab of meat beside it and it will work a bit better. And good airing will help too. All that said, I wouldn't finish a glass.

Drink now to five years.

87/100 - Good
