Dark fruit and dark chocolate roll out from the glass with immediate appeal, followed by black tea, boot polish and fruit cake notes that add an attractive layer of complexity. Sheets of earthiness sweep through the palate with coffee grounds and softly spoken spices filling in the gaps.
What I enjoyed most is how approachable it is. Everything feels settled and comfortable, with generous flavours delivered in a relaxed and unhurried fashion. Nothing juts out, nothing feels forced.
This is the sort of Shiraz that suits a lazy night on the couch, remote in hand and another streamed episode queued up. It's a thoroughly enjoyable Barossa Shiraz.
