The third release of The Dark Horse - a fruit forward Cabernet expressing a different side to the variety. I've enjoyed observing the progressive rise of this wine over that period too. This the best thus far.
Juicy Cabernet fruit doesn't miss a beat - blackcurrant, dark plums, cassis, slight cigar box. Mint sits cautiously in the background almost keeping watch. An ever so subtle touch of oak, just the way it was intended. No new oak was used either mind you. Soft tannins and a long finish.
Barbeques would eat this up. Roast lamb wouldn't stand a chance either.
Savvy buyers will find it for under $20 - terrific value.
Drink now to five years.
