Mitchell Wines Peppertree Shiraz 2016

Just madness for $30!

I'm often asked to recommend age-worthy wines that don't cost a bomb. Mitchell Wines Peppertree is one of my go-to reccos and never fails. A new release and this 2016 keeps the high standard at an incredibly low price for what you get. Terrific value and built for longevity, get in the queue.

Deliberately held back and released after five years, the finished wine sees larger French oak for two years in a range of three to ten-year-old barrels. Naturally, oak plays very much a secondary role in ensuring the fruit sings. And that it does.

I find this wine always produces minty and eucalypt characters with black fruits and red plums steadying the ship. A terrific density coats the mouth with a twang of tension keeping things in check. Fine spices purr through the mouth with grippy tannins edging on powdery. A fabulous wine as always.

Drink to ten years+
