Smith and Hooper Reserve Merlot 2017

A very tidy wine thrusting its hand in the air screaming, "Pick me!"

There's plenty of depth here to keep you amused. Think pizza sauce, blueberries, generous dark plums plus handfuls of dried herbs. Whole berry fermentation in barrel adds complexity and a solid herby theme is prominent throughout.

More time in the glass encourages pretty aromas of clove and cedar to emerge with roasted peppers sitting at the core.

It's in good nick now, but I'd be curious to see how it develops after five or so years.

Drink now to five years+
