McLaren Vale does a lot of things well but Chardonnay isn't one of them. I've only had one which got my juices flowing, but admittedly, the fruit came from an elevated vineyard right on the border of the Adelaide Hills region.
This is a fair enough wine without any flashing lights or noise to gravitate to. A little muted, some apple and yellow peach and hazelnut characters can be seen. There's some texture through the mouth with a warming and fine cinnamon spice to close.
Drink now to three years.
