Kilikanoon Duke Reserve Grenache 2012

From 80 and 100 year old vines, this wine is named in honour of winemaker Kevin Mitchell's grandfather, Maurice Duke, who was one of the earliest horticulturalists and growers in the Clare Valley.

Dense fruit but dainty on its feet. Sweet raspberry, dark chocolate, leather. A few more swirls of the glass and cherry ripe appears, as does flecks of cedar, aniseed and wood spices.

Slipping a wedge of dark chocolate into the side of your mouth and sipping on this wouldn't be a silly idea.

Drink now to ten years.
