Huntington Estate Barrel Fermented Chardonnay 2019

Spare a thought for these guys at Huntington Estate. Due to horrific smoke taint damage impacting their fruit, they dropped all 100 tonnes of their 2020 harvest on the ground. All of it. The kicker is that the closest fire ground was 100km away. Heartbreaking. Family run, here's a business worth rallying around in these tough times as you won't see a 2020 Chardonnay release, let alone any 2020 wine released from them in the future.

This 2019 Barrel Fermented Chardonnay has stepped up a few notches from the previous 2018 release. Fresh aromas are partnered by fresh fruit delivery in the mouth. Nougat, vanilla and white stonefruits are the highlight from the outset. The fruit runs deep as that white fleshed nectarine slowly tightens the noose of pleasure. A delicate and pleasurable lemony tang reaches out on close with a skip and a beat before surging on a sustained finish. Clever stuff.
