Coulter Wines Adelaide Hills Chardonnay 2016

I've seen this label thrown around on social media for a couple of months - it looks great and certainly has great shelf appeal. Sitting in a bar I saw this in the fridge so the transaction was made.

Chris Coulter is the winemaker here, this his 'side project' from his full time role at 1847 Wines in the Barossa Valley. Coulter's focus with this label is minimal intervention.

Gee I enjoyed this. Super tasty, a quick whiff and I was hooked. Yellow florals and raw cashews lead from the front. Four months in old Hungarian oak with no fining, it's a Chardonnay you can dig your claws into. Swimming about with ease, there's plenty of interest to captivate but not too much for you to over think it. The mouth is coated generously with a ginger spice hum chiming in late. A gentle caress to finish and satisfaction is follows suit.

I kicked back with a couple of glasses and I could have had a couple a more. Top stuff.

Drink now to five years.

92/100 - Very good
