Red Hill Estate Merricks Grove Chardonnay 2014

I popped in to Red Hill Estate for a quick looksy while in the neighbourhood a few weeks ago. It was my first time there and I was impressed. A great set up and wonderful view overlooking the vines and Phillip Island in the distance. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable too which makes the experience better. Nice work team.

A most enjoyable Chardonnay though there's some old school appeal about it which may not appease all. Melted butter, toasty oak and fleshy yellow stone fruits. A richness struck a chord with me. A few more swirls of the glass and a Jersey caramel like character slowly unfurls. The fruit and acid are neatly balanced further enhancing the pleasure factor. I wanted to look at it further so a purchase was made. And I'm pleased I did.

Drink now to five years.

91/100 - Very good
