Ten Minutes by Tractor Estate Pinot Noir 2014

I remember having a chat with a Mornington Peninsula winemaker a couple of years ago. Among other things he simply said that when the Hunter Valley has a great vintage Victoria generally has a dud. Fair enough but interestingly the theory sticks here.

Less than a tonne was picked per acre in this case. Much of the single vineyard fruit has been declassified to this Estate label for 2014.

Attractive red florals, dark plums and cherries. Typical Pinot savoury and earthy characters hold firm with classic apricot kernel traits in the mouth - it's on song. Depth here is delivered with a clenched fist - there's plenty of guts to it yet luscious and super fine. Sheets of satiny fruit persist for what seems an eternity.

I had this with duck, you should too.

Drink now or up to eight years.

94/100 - Very good+
