La Petite Mort Pinot Gris Qvevri 2019

Pinot Gris like you've never seen it before.

Fermented in Georgian Qvevri which have been dug into the ground beside a vineyard, this Pinot Gris sits on skins for 63 days. Quite and intriguing wine, you're either going to love it or not. There is some serious tannin here and I love how winemakers Glen Robert and Andrew Scott explore textures with their wines. Find generous sheets of grip here to amuse. Muted rose petal like scents plus of touch of tangelo peel hook you in early. Some wonderful width coats the mouth with the fruit having some weight which is painted on liberally. When tasting this at the cellar door, Glen discussed the molecular compounds of tannins. Through his words and gestures you can't help but love his passion for the science and romance of winemaking. Generous to finish with an ever so fine spice, I can see lovers of skin contact wines scrambling for this.

Drink to five years.
