Coonawarra Merlot courtesy of the upmarket brand Nightfall Wines. This is good gear and adds a little light to a variety that can often be shrouded in grey.
I like the flow of this wine. It shows respectable varietal traits with ribbons of silk that seemingly glide through the mouth with ease. Seeing two years in French oak, the oak shows its hand but will continue to soften with bottle age. Dark fruit and a faint spice are brushed atop the palate leaving a lingering finish with fine tannins in its wake. To sum it up in a word, smart would do it.
