Parched Crow Shiraz 2021

I was expecting a little more from this 2021 given the Shiraz from 2017 was in fine form. After a few tough years perhaps things would have normalised I would have thought, but not entirely.

It's an easy-going red but you don't need to spend $40 to get one of those. I suspect time won't have too much of a significant impact either. Slippery with char and flashes of meatiness, there's a distinct clay like feel brushed throughout. Baked red fruits and a hint of chocolate play the main role with some blueberries wrestling their way forward without much luck. Baking spices and some clove finish things off but it's that mouth feel and the thinning of the fruit that pegs it back. Given the choice, race for the 2017.

Drink to five years.
