Lyons Will Pinot Noir 2024

I'm not going to lie, there is a humility and graciousness that draws me closer to these Lyons Will Pinots, and this exemplifies that deluxe.

I do love detail and the back label brings copious amounts of joy. It tells you of hand-picked fruit in two separate batches a week apart, estate grown and single vineyard, wild yeast fermentation with 90% fruit destemmed with the remainder going through semi-carbonic maceration, clones of D5V12, Abel, MV6, 115 and 777, soil composition, 510 metres above, yield per vine 1.8kg and total production of 500 cases. Phew, I need a lie down. That's epic.

Terrific on opening, yet it continues to soften on day two and three of tasting. Twiggy things, tilled earth, tea tree, cedar and aniseed open the account. A wine that moves about effortlessly, black cherries and plums sit at the core. Gorgeously savoury and delicately spiced, the hum of those fine spices linger dangerously and coerces you back for more. The tasting turned into a drinking - the bottle didn't stand a chance. Excellent stuff. Big love.
