Unapologetically muscular and rich, two percent Moscatel has been added to the Shiraz to enhance its flow.
Sourced from four Barossa Shiraz vineyards including Ebenezer, Greenock, Seppeltsfield and Moculta in the Eden Valley with the splash of Moscatel coming from the Eden Valley. It sees 50% new French oak for 20 months.
Blackberries, blackcurrants, stewed plums and Christmas cake make an assertive impression and are joined by licorice bullets, baking spices and fruit bun spices. Despite its generosity and the oak presence, that depth doesn't stretch out to the edge of the palate as much as hoped and it presents quite linear with the fruit planted mid-palate. It's a wine that certainly needs a robust dish by its side.
