Rhône-inspired, this Blanc blend from Tim Smith Wines is the kind of wine that has long lunches in its line of sight.
Grenache Blanc, Clairette and Grenache Gris are brought together and open with attractive aromas of yellow flowers and honeycomb before rolling into flavours of yellow and white-fleshed stonefruit, canned pears and subtle apricot kernel. There's a delightful flow with cinnamon and ginger spices rippling through the core. The fruit has a measured weight without becoming heavy, carrying a texture and presence that continually points back to food. And food is exactly where this will shine. Tempura-battered mushrooms wouldn't stand a chance. Fish and chips would be an inspired match. Even a roast chook might find itself held to account. Delicious drinking. Great stuff.
