Heartland First Release Malbec 2016

The second release of this 'premium' release Malbec from Langhorne Creek.

Quite a gutsy wine - what you'd expect really. Scents of some sweet blue fruits, earth, coconut, soft cloves and spices. 100% new oak, it's dry to taste. Those spice characters kick on. The mouth is filled generously. The fruit certainly has punch and lingers long but feels almost slippery. I'd have a glass with a hearty meal but the asking price is a stretch. Give it time it will evolve in bottle furthermore and will cellar beyond a decade with ease.

88/100
