Barossa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. No mention of winemaker nor where it was made. The press release is littered with rave reviews - I don't see it. Quite an average wine overall.
There's some varietal traits here but the mid-palate is missing in action. Admittedly, Cabernet is called the donut wine - there's a hole in the middle...
Dark berries and plums are there as expected. Some cocoa. Spiced plum and wood spice but in a blind tasting, this was well behind the pack. It seems bitsy in some respects too. Hard acid sits more on the citrus spectrum and lingers. Not a wine for me and I must admit I was taken aback by the asking price.
