I was privileged to have walked the Yangarra vineyard with Peter Fraser last week. To be able to put the site and vines into context is a great thing. This Grenache, off bush vines planted in 1946, is a cracker!
Wild yeast fermented and nine months in old oak with no fining. Raspberries and even baked raspberries get this on the move. Medium bodied, drop the clutch and this moves to savoury city real quick. Hoisin, fine brown spices and earthy feels roll through. Tightish acid ensures the future is in good hands. Sour cherry comes late before finishing with dusty tannins. Did I say it's a cracker?
Drink now to ten years.
