Wangolina Lagrein 2018

Here's a variety not seen all that much but this is a label well worth tucking under your arm. Hailing from northern Italy, this Wangolina Lagrein has a gorgeous appearance in the glass. The cerise hue captures the energy of the wine beautifully.

Vintage conditions prevented a 2017 release, but this 2018 is a cracker and damn it's good drinking for 28 bucks.

Attractive aromas of lavender and violets send the senses to higher places. Blueberries, generous dark plums, licorice and flecks of tilled earth add interest too. Dusty feels through the mouth bring width with big chewy tannins having a firm grip. Lively acidity needs some Ritalin to calm down, and that it does on the second day of tasting. It's delicious really. Go here, please do.
