I was in Melbourne last week. I couldn't help but drop in to the City Wine Shop. I love that place. Such great diversity, the atmosphere is relaxed and the food is pretty damn smart too. In search of something I haven't seen before and this caught my eye. Cool climate Syrah from the Yarra is firmly on my radar at the moment. All boxes were ticked so the purchase was made. I happily drank this at the bar. What a beauty!
Whole bunch and funky aromas straight up. It's alluring and captivating. From the first whiff I knew I was on a winner.
There's plenty of delish factor to behold. Layers of goodness. A touch of black pepper, mushroom compost, buckets of earthiness plus a stemmy complexity from to whole bunches. A little drying and with a sappy finish, a slight lick of black current leaf on exit to keep you on your toes.
Drink now to five years.
