Eminent drinkability. There's something about these Samuel's Gorge wines which just enable them to glide through the mouth. There's personality, there's charisma, but its almost as though they float on a cloud of pleasure.
This Mourvedre is humming. Medium bodied, a beautiful wine just reaching for your soul. The fruit is true to all varietal characteristics. Sweet spices creep up slowly but surely before they swarm the mouth on exit. Meaty, earthy and char all come before. Moreish and then some with charcuterie board delights lingering.
I spent some time with winemaker Justin McNamee a couple of months ago when I was in the 'hood. Amongst other things discussed, he said his favourite wine descriptor is 'delicious'. Yep, he's nailed that brief here. Absolutely delicious!
Drink now to six years.
