Tuck's Ridge Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir 2016

The best of the samples from Tuck's Ridge I've seen lately. Pinot ticking the boxes in the right places.

Montalto recently acquired Tuck's Ridge, and from this point forward, the wines will be made by the meticulous Simon Black. Expect to see the quality step up big time.

But for now, this does the job just fine. Dried red flowers, dark cherries and dark plums plus fine brown spices make up the main players. Dried leaves and typical forest floor characteristics synonymous with the variety add appeal. Black pepper spice wrestles interest back in its favour with the finish long, deep but tight. An unmoved tension quite noticeable but one time should resolve.

Drink to 2026.
