Parker Coonawarra Estate 95 Block 2018

This is a beauty. But let it breathe for a few hours or just put it away and forget about it for a while. A classy release no less. Slide into your jim-jams and just relax on the lounge with a large pour.

A Cabernet and Petit Verdot blend (80.5/19.5) with 73% new oak for 17 months. And that high proportion of new oak certainly shows.

Classic Cabernet aromas - cassis, blackberries, roasted pepper and black olives. Some purple florals, cigar box and licorice too. This settled into a groove quite nicely on the second day of tasting. Time certainly helped given its youth so decanting to drink now is highly recommended. The fruit is plush with plenty of energy but tense acidity keeps it all in check. If it were me, I'd let it rest in a dark place for a couple of years but if you can hold out longer, even better. Another glorious Coonawarra treat.
