The Cabernet Gods really do smile down on us. This is a sublime example of the king of red varieties.
A dash of Malbec (4%) and 50% new French oak were used for 23 months. It's nothing short of polished from top to toe.
Delightful scents just keep teeming from the glass. Another swirl and something new appears. Lots of cigar box and tobacco, mulberries, plums and delightful violets and purple flowers. There's a whiff of some sweet cedar too. Did I mention black olive as well?
Delivery is seamless and waltzes through the mouth. The Margaret River bay leaf character sneaks out following in the footsteps of blackberries. Licks of dried cranberries lead to those tobacco feels once more with dried Mediterranean herbs dusted across the top and a rub of delicate spices chime in perfectly. The sustained finish is fine and elegant and then some. Brilliant!
Drink now to a decade.
