Berton Vineyards The Bonsai Shiraz 2017
From the cooler Eden Valley climate, there's a brightness to this Shiraz which is very appealing.
Having seen 20 months in French and American oak, red frog and jubey like aromas skip from the glass before moving on. A firm grip is noticeable but soft and energetic plum and red berry fruit sit behind. That tension holds on as touches of char, oak sweetness and rubs of earthiness peer through. Red apple acidity is followed by drying dusty tannins. Dried herbs and fennel sit on a persistent finish. Slow cooked meals would eat this up.
Drink to eight years.
Region: Eden Valley
