Parker Coonawarra Estate First Growth 2016

Parker Coonawarra's flagship although this First Growth doesn't come across with the prestige I've seen in the past. It's a solid wine but given the way it walks and the shape it holds, but the lights aren't flashing as brightly given its pedigree.

Scents of caponata, grilled capsicums and some sweet blackcurrants. From this start it moves to boot polish, earth, dark plums and black olives. Fine spices roll on and on. Curiously, it just seems a bit flat in the mouth and gives the impression there is some swagger but perhaps it has a hole or two in its shoes preventing it from strutting out - the point made clear particularly as I tasted this over three days.  A solid wine no less but is it the jet setter it should be given the price point? No. Will time help? Possibly not. Gee I'd loved to be proven wrong.
