Grandis Wines Unearthed Garganega 2021

Garganega is the key to Soave. If you've had the chance to come across Shannon Burgess-Moore, the muscle behind Grandis Wines, you would know he is a suave kinda guy. This wine and Shannon are peas in a pod really.

From the only Garganega planting in the Hunter Valley, the vineyard is skipping along towards organic certification. This wine shakes up the norm with it sitting on skins for 7 months. So textural, it's unfined and unfiltered.

A golden glow in the glass, it has a dried hay appearance. Scents of poached pear, a hint of apricot nectar and yellow flowers race for your attention. There is some weight, that time on skins is telling, as it coats the width of the mouth. Some yellow peach and splashes of citrus keep me coming back for more. A most intriguing wine, chalky and powdery textural-like feels pursue your favour. The mouth dries out gradually as fine cinnamon spices gain momentum. Sunday sips in the sun without a care in the world - big love for this.
