Malbec is a variety that is a cracking drink when done well. A generous and brooding type, this release comes from the Margaret River region.
As it wafts form the glass, its aromas have me thinking of a ferment. It just doesn't seem to be where a finished wine should be. Having said that, those scents blew off on day two of tasting and the prettier fruit stepped up. Drying and sapping, chalky tannins leave the mouth-puckering. Scents of dried petals and sarsparilla, dark chocolate, pan juices and dark plums add to the heft this wine carries. A wine that softens with time in the glass, this will age well, or alternatively, decant and enjoy with a plentiful piece of protein.
