Penley Estate's entry level Cabernet which seems to punch about its weight year after year. I recall buying it as a go-to back in the late 90's. Still well priced, this continues the trend of reliability for under $20.
Dark fruits are partnered by aniseed and fennel plus a whisper of mint. It's dark and brooding, nowhere to hide here. The mouth is filled with fruit washing out to leave a trail of spice in its wake.
A little air doesn't do it any harm.
Drink now to five years.
