Established in the 1800's, Koonowla was one of the Clare Valley's first wineries.
An energetic style of Riesling sits in the glass. It's limey with a tinge of pineapple husk. More time reveals green apple and some field flower aromas. That's where the fun stops.
In the mouth it's quite tart - under-ripe green apple. A minerally drive runs through the middle and acid dies off much quicker than expected. A bitterness lingers too.
Not a Riesling I'd lean towards.
