Patrick Coonwarra Home Block Cabernet 2014

Absolute class. A fabulous Cabernet. Six years young, $45 for this quality is madness.

Quality Cabernets like this from Margaret River and the Yarra Valley would fetch a lot more than this asking price. I'd use the word bargain but some people get "offended" using such a term for a wine that costs nearly $50. Have a good look at this and you'll know what I mean. Futher still, this is an investment in longevity - time won't beat this down any time soon.

Having spent two years in French and American oak, seductive scents of cedar, cigar box and mulberry fruit reach out for an embrace. Shades of bay leaf tuck in behind too. A wine that just feels great but then dark berry fruit clenches its fist a little and tenses up. It's not giving you its all just yet which is a fabulous thing. There's some freshness about the acidity and the length just seems forever with fine cocoa like tannins perched with pride. Brilliant Cabernet.

Drink to fifteen years+
