A vineyard to keep an eye on. Some real efforts are being made in the vineyard to improve the soils and I'm keen to track the progress in coming years. The Home Block is proof of such development.
"Give us two to three years," they tell me. This Chardonnay is concentrated yet muted at the same time. It ticks along, a shy guy not wanting to give too much away. There's a minerally vibe. Soft creamy oak and delicate yellow peaches raise their hand. Quite linear in delivery, some textural grip is evident and it drives long but the acid goes MIA. Of the two, I'd easily go for the Home Block.
Drink to five years.
