A swirl of the glass and you can immediately see that this is a little more serious than its stablemate the Crossing Cabernet Merlot 2018.
Quite tense, sapping tannins draw moisture from the mouth. A blend of Cabernet, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc (87/9/4), this spent 15 months in French oak, 25% of which was new.
Some char and cured meat wraps itself around roasted peppers and generous black fruits. Fine spices loom large on a persistent finish as I keep puckering my lips. Drink with a good steak or even a mushroom risotto.
