From a cracking Hunter Valley vintage comes this Reserve Pinot Noir release.
Sourced from the Lochleven vineyard, the vines were planted in 1973. Quite a robust Pinot, there's some weight in its kick despite being 13.5% alcohol.
Dark cherry, leather and clove aromas move to dark plums. some raspberry and charred steak in the mouth. There's a smokey character from the oak too which is hard to shake and dominates too much for my liking. A tight red apple like acidity steps up late before soft spices gain momentum on what seems a never say die finish.
