Yangarra Estate High Sands Grenache 2017

From Yangarra's famed High Sands vineyard, this 2017 release comes across more pensive and considered.

Planted in 1946, these bush vines deliver incredible fruit. The highest section of this 1.7 hectare McLaren Vale site sits 210m above. No pressings are used in this wine and it was kept on lees in older French oak for eleven months.

Juicy red fruit open the account as raspberries swim at ease laced with a dried rose perfume. Deliciously fine and smooth through the mouth, there's a minerally drive and even a faint almond nuttiness. Touches of cured meat flank blueberries and dark cherries move about the mouth. Delicate spices push through sitting long as graphite like tannins are brushed finely across a sustained finish. Compared to previous releases, this 2017 is not as outgoing and pristine yet there's still plenty of interest to muse over.
