Yangarra Ironheart Shiraz 2017

Another superb Ironheart Shiraz. It's a wine that hits the target without fail. I was lucky enough to taste this in barrel with winemaker Peter Fraser during vintage back in 2017. It didn't miss the mark then and it's perched gorgeously now.

Mulberry and blueberry fruit rolls with plums and flanked with savoury nuances. Fine peppery spices, Chinese Five Spice and hints of clove. There's a whack of oak but that will settle with time. And patience will reward here - be confident of that. I tasted this over a few days and it presented beautifully each time. Medium bodied, layers of pleasure peel off at ease. Dark fruits show more on day two and three of tasting and the Yangarra ironstone is in fine form delivering a shimmer of minerality. Long, a lick of milk chocolate creaminess lights up on close. One of those "come at me" wines where intrigue and satisfaction come in spades. A treat to behold in two hands.
