Ravens Croft Petit Verdot 2019

One of those wines which will provide maximum comfort on a chilly night - when we get those back again. A great Petit Verdot from the Granite Belt.

A few producers source their fruit from this vineyard and it was great to look at this Ravens Croft release alongside the Gerler 2019.

Of the two I preferred this Ravens Croft. It opens with scents of black earth, black tea, cola, dried purple flowers. This flows on to deliver some pretty mouth perfume too. Black cherries and black plums ride shotgun with some sly meatiness. There is a firmish acidity early but it calms and opens its arms with time. Mind you, it still comes across a little linear. Delicate spices to close with fine cocoa like tannins. This will age well and is made for hearty dishes.
